what are the changes are required for Manually updating.
Based on Physical %
"how to set aotu compute actual setting" i wan to turn off it.
it is showing tick in my P6 and deactivate...
my schedule is without resource.

2 possible cause of double the duration
1 is assoicated with Resource loading calculation and Activity type
2 is project setting
There are 2 options when you set up your project
1. Remaining Duration = Original Duration + Actual Duration
2. Remaining Duration = Original Duration - Acutal Duration

yes, i think original duration must each time be revised using the actual trend, for example:
activity : excavation 1000 m3
Expected productivity : 100 M3/ day then
Original duration OD = 1000/100 = 10 DAYS
when the activity begin you find after lets say 1 week, that the actual productivity is 50 M3/ DAY thus you will have to change OD according to your actual trend.
OD = 1000/50 = 20 DAY
RD = 20- 7 = 13 DAYS
Physical % complete = 7*50/1000 = 35 %
of course you must keep a baseline before doing anything

Hi Alex,
Did you mean by (3. Update any revised duration) that I revised original duration?
And kindly note that when I made schedule I noticed that for activities which was started and not finished yet the duration at compilation was duplicated I wonder why?

I may suggest to establish the baseline schedule first before making any update.

If that is the case then I will recommend the sequency of update
1. Update activity is already finished with a actual finish and actual start date
2. Update activity is start but not finish with a actual start date and Physical % complete and Remaining Duration
3. Update any revised duration
4. Reschedule the data date to the update data date

Thanks now i understand i have to put Physicasl % complete and remaining duration.
( for activity which is under progress)
my doubt was that i have to put only phy.% complte not remaining duration. ( as we use to do in P3)

What is the % Complete type
And how you want to drive your remaining duration.
1. Base on Physcial progress
2. Manual Update
3. 0/100 rule
...
This will affect the forecast finish date of your schedule
