All,
The reason why activity bar show gap after entering actual from data date is because of wrong logic or wrong sequence of activities. Sometime if will be fixed by progress override if only one predecessors constraining the successor but more often not because if you trace the logic you find that the predecessor is not yet started or finish. It is common for wrong sequence of activity or successor started earlier than predecessors or to another predecessors.
The best solution is to trace backwards your logic and correct the link or logic to remove the gap.
Hi Mohsen,
Can you tell what your solution was? I am having a similar problem and have set my Schedule option for progress override. However, I still show gaps in my activity bars. If I click on the above link, it says the article is no longer there.
Would appreciate any input you may have.
Thanks
Marion
Hi Arnold,
Thanks for the link. I got my answer from that article. Please let me know if you know about any other good website similar to the link that you sent to me for Primavera, project planning tools, etc.
Cheers,
Mohsen

Hi All,
Can someone explain in brief what is the main difference between Retain Logic, Progress Override and Actual Dates for scheduling a programme in P6?
Cheers,
Mohsen
Hi Omar,
I experienced that kind of problem,if im not mistaken your scheduling option is "Retained Logic"(as Arnold previously mentioned). This can be solve by fixing your activity relationship or if you can afford to schedule it as "Progress Overide".
Best regards,
Rnel
Hi Omar,
1. Try to check your calendar assigned to these activities, if there is a Non-working.
2. If you are trying to update (F9) and the option is in "Retained Logic" Try to check the Relationship, Predecessor if this is FF.
3. Solution, go to view -> Bars -> Bar Settings, under the Bar Necking Setting untick the "Calendar nonwork time".
HTH.
Regards,
Arnold
