what does your global change say? and where does it store its results?

you say you have date constraints in your schedule: are they "Early" or "Late" constraints?

The most simple way to get what your boss is asking for is to change the data date and run schedule (F9); then you would copy your project under another name. However, the constraints could not allow the software to freely calculate the new dates.

Therefore you will have to update the constraint dates also, either by hand or by using global change.

"Schedule" (F9) always calculates the schedule at the data date; that means that changing the project start date without changing the data date will have no effect.
