I think I found the cause of my problem, and there isnt any at all, its just a bug on my computer that is preventing the whole thing to operate correctly.
Thanks again Carlito for pointing it out, otherwise I might go on forever not knowing what went wrong.
thanks carlito, ill try it out, but the visual report is not compatible with excel 2003.
and i do agree with you that MSP is not the best tool around. most of the time MSP is used because of the cost factor.
Hi Nickie,
The "analyze timescaled data in Excel" is no longer included in the MS Project 2007. You can use visual reports to analyze your project data by using PivotChart in Excel instead. However, you can still generate other reports in Excel (or Visio if you have) using MSP2007. Go to Tools, Visual Reports.
Honestly speaking, I dont find MS Project to be a very effective planning & scheduling tool. I prefer Primavera instead. I know many might disagree with me, but this is what I found out from my own experience. We have a client here that wants MS Project, so in order for me to double-check what I am doing in MS Project, I am running a similar programme in Primavera for my comparison. It works somehow!
Regards,
Carlito
Hi Carlito, I try generating reports in Excel, and it doesnt work. I am using Excel 2003 but MSP2007 cannot export some reports to Excel.
Oh, and the other problems I found is when I want to "analyze timescaled data" in Excel, they seemed to have removed the function altogether, or maybe you can advise me if they have hidden the function elsewhere.
Thank you.
Hi Nickie, I really dont get your problem. I have MS Project 2007 on my laptop and at the same time MS Office 2003. I dont encounter any compatibility issues, except when I forget to save my programme into 2000-2003 version of MS Project. Our clients who dont have MSP2007 cannot open my files. But this is between MSP2003 & MSP2007, not with any other MS Office applications.
Just to point out on thing on MSP2007, it doesnt work with lower versions of MSOffice. If you upgrade to MSP2007, you need to upgrade the MSOffice as well. If someone has known how to make MSP2007 to work with lower versions of other office applications, please let me know. I am already pulling out all my hair working with MSP2007 and lower MSOffice applications.
This is what I found:

This last one I have just stumbled on - rather good. Any more?
