The s-curves that I have mentioned are measuring project performance (timing), against baseline early and late dates.
You could use Primavera EV s curves but in P6 you are able to have only early Curve against EV, but by the way that I have mentioned you are able check the Project performance (EV) against Late and Early units. If your EV (Actual) s-curve is moving inside the late and early area project is doing well if it is moving to above early curve project is performing perfect but if it is moving to late s-curve project is performing bad and if it is below the late s-curve project will be finished later than planned date. In this case, you as a planner should warn project manager for further action to be taken.
In my opinion the other advantage of this s-curves is that as you generate them in excel you can report them more cosmetic and they look better than Primavera’s one.
Cheers,
Shandiz

Hi Arnold...
Im curious to know as to what have sent to fellow members, since evrbdy seems to be aking for that..
Kindly share it with me as well, since I also generate S Curve, but in a bit different way...Top down estimation method...which is a bit simpler one...
Plz do send it to me.
Thanx.

Hello Every body
Thanks Shandiz for information that you gave, i am a young planner and i am starting with the S-curves
for the S curve you talk about actual, early and late, each one of the earlier and the late represent the budgeted? this curves inform us about the Ressources but not about the project performence, is it true?.
Also P6 represent earned value, budgeted and estiamted at completion, can we use this curves
for evey body who have information please answer

Dear friends,
I am pretty new here. I would like to mention an easy way to generate S-curve using Primavera data into excel.
As you may know Primavera is not able to produce S-curves which include Late unites as well as early.
Step 1: your schedule must be resourced.
Step 2: you should maintain a base line to your Project (menu/Project/assign baseline) and then assign the maintained baseline to project
Step 3: you should store a copy of your project (with no actual) it can be either project baseline or a copy of project.
Step 4: you should create a new report using report wizard to get data from primavera. (menu/Tools/report wizard/new report)
Step 5: tick time distributed data, select activity resource and role assignment – next : on column select role or resource, on group and sort tick grand totals and summaries and group by labour types – next :select your desire time scale, on fields select Cum early unites as well as late ones and actuals (Actuals must be 0) – next: run report select ASC|| file and a saving path.
Step 6: now you have an excel spread sheet with early, late, actual unites and a time scale
Step 7: by excel curve wizard your able to create banana s-curve, if you put actual values in the actual cells for each period you can measure actual project against late and early unites, if project runs between late and early it is doing well otherwise project will be on risk.
I hope mentioned are useful. Good luck.
