suggest we add one line about html in comments and linking to malicious code, then publish the "guidelines" forthwith. They appear to have attracted no adverse comment since last drafted, so we should use them.

Not ideal, I grant you, but anyone clicking the link ought to be aware what they are doing and most (sensible ?) users would have their browser set to at least ask before executing an EXE.



Can we / should we police this or just post a disclaimer and discourage our users from posting such links ? One way to give some accountability is to allow only registered and logged-in users to post using html (or to post at all). This way we can trace back and use a "three strikes" approach.



I think you were right to remove the hyperlink and leave the address, though. Should we adopt this as a standard response ?
