Hi guys,
Will get the Guest account HTML thing sorted.
Dear all,
Final (?) Guidelines posted at this thread
Suggest we open for comment until Friday, then post.
Bernard,
suggest we add one line about html in comments and linking to malicious code, then publish the "guidelines" forthwith. They appear to have attracted no adverse comment since last drafted, so we should use them.
James,
can you remove html privileges for the guest account ?
If we are going to maintain the forum guest account, I second your idea to remove HTML privilages for the account.
And yes, we should incorporate a policy as you outlined regarding linking to executables in the guidelines for the site (which I hope might get published soon).

Not ideal, I grant you, but anyone clicking the link ought to be aware what they are doing and most (sensible ?) users would have their browser set to at least ask before executing an EXE.
Can we / should we police this or just post a disclaimer and discourage our users from posting such links ? One way to give some accountability is to allow only registered and logged-in users to post using html (or to post at all). This way we can trace back and use a "three strikes" approach.
I think you were right to remove the hyperlink and leave the address, though. Should we adopt this as a standard response ?
