Summary Duration

Nearly there.

The WBS overall duration is worked out from the default calendar. If you use the default calendar (say 5 day) and then use another calendar (say 7 day) within that WBS then the overall duration will be incorrect.

Hi,

This is not been updated in P6 v6.1 also. This is still the enhancement request wilth Primavera.

To get the correct duration in the summary, you need to use the Default Calendar in Global option. Whichever calendar you are going to use as Project Calendar if you change that as Global and default check mark the duration will show correctly.

When using this in Enterprise level the same cannot be used for all the project.

We have to wait for the solution from Primavera in the next release.

Using a global calendar with 7 days will not report an incorrect duration however not everyone works a 7 day week. When you use 5 day global calendar week and then use 7 day calendar in the same project the actual days worked will be more than often incorrect. This is a known software glitch in Primavera P6 a and hopefully in P6 v6.1 it has been fixed.

This will happen if ur global calender and project calenders are different.

Summary durations are calculated based on Global calender and activity duration as per calender assigned.

Ideally, Global calender should be 7 day with no holidays, to avoid any mis-match with any of the programs.

Cheers,

Ravi
