Things still looking good in the planning employment world?
It looks to me like there are a lot more low level salaries on offer that once would be aimed at a junior level now targeted at planner level. Dont know, maybe its always been like that.
How about rates in the freelance market?

There is a documentary this evening on Newsnight regarding the credit crunch so it may be worthwhile watching.
The film crew have been in my office today interviewing my manager for his thoughts as we specialise in Construction recruitment.
The freelance market for Planners (in London) is still as buoyant as ever. With regards to going overseas (especially UAE), there is a minimum 2 year commitment needed to get the full tax benefits. Therefore its probably worthwhile having a holiday there before making the jump!
Have to agree with you Ian, its looking more attractive every day to escape the Uk, the mnoney just isnt there in permanent positions - never will be either. UAE & Australia for that matter offer much better prospects
Theres always the option of going to a tax-free location like the UAE, great money, huge projects and a strong expat community.
Shouldnt be a problem.
However, money isnt everything.
Bear in mind the contract is only as long as the notice period. So a 12 month contract is actually a one week rolling contract up to 12 months
Are you prepared to commute around Lancashire or travel to Cheshire, Cumbria or further.
If its big money youre after you will have to work away from home (London perhaps) but weigh up the expenses and unpaid travelling time.
If youre young and single go travelling.
If youre married (and want to stay that way) think twice.
