MS Project 2007 (Std or Pro the same) is definitely not a stable product; you should move back to MS Project 2003

I know of a few people who are encounter problems similar to yours and gone back to using MS Project 2003. One of the reasons I’m wary of upgrading at the moment.

I have only started working with the programme but what is very apparent is that the programme was developed by a mix and match of users in both MSP03 and MSP07.
Have tried all of the above with no luck.
Seriously have spent around 3wks with this programme exporting, importing, copying, pasting, calendars etc.
The latest Service Pack is 1 for 2007.
I also have done detect and repair and today unistalled and reinstallled 2007.
So after all that I think im going to try the programme with a different software it jsut isnt manageable for this programme.

As far as I’m aware, performance will be more affected by file size or PC / Laptop performance than the amount of task activities, so it would depend on how many macros you have, logos in the headers, etc. etc.
What I do know for certain is that 2,500 tasks is nowhere near its limitations.
Also, was the plan built in MS Project 2007 or migrated over from 2003 / 2000 / 98? There may have been a bit of file corruption if it was migrated.
Have you got the latest service pack?
Have you tried copying and pasting into a blank schedule? (Making sure it has the same holidays etc. as the old one)
In 2003 there was a function called Detect and Repair, I’m not sure if it is available in MS Project 2007 but you might want to try that if it is (Back up your file onto a disk or something first). It automatically finds and fixes errors, not only with MS Project, but all shared Office components.
The very last resort... you can always reinstall MS Project 2007 if you have the administrative rights for your PC / Laptop.

EDIT: You can see if the problems you are experiencing are listed as bugs with Microsoft, if not report it and give them both barrels!! :)
