Guys,

If you want to get an understanding of how many resources you are using or require you can do this by setting Resource Usage Profile Options (Right Click on the resource histogram) in the activities view to show EQ/Hds ’Equivalent Heads’.

To do this you need to open the Histogram Resource Usage Profile Options box and on the graph tab at the bottom you can set the ’Calculate Average’ Based on Hours per time period to either the admin or user default hours per time period or a manually entered figure.

It can help here to use a manual figure equal to the expected productivity of the resources over the life cycle of the work and you can then see how many EQ/Hds you would need to execute the work.

Hope this helps.

As far as setting up resources, you can grab a paper called ’Theta Planning’ from either www.planningengineers.org or www.eh.com.au.

This paper give some basic structures for consideration when using Primavera V5 to create and analyse resources.

Hi,

To see six Labours u need 2 define individual resource.

if you working on manhour basis then this showing that you require 54 mhr for this job.after assign if u go to resource assignment then u can see daily requirement craft wise.

Hi

i had given for a particular activity as 54 hr/day ( one labour works for 9 hours/day ...54 hrs/day means 6 labours)

i had allocated that resource to some activity & given calendar as 9 hrs working 7 days week ......

if i go to resource loading i cant see 6 nos of labours anywhere..

Yes u r right. u can define invidual manpower but it will be very difficult to monitor that much detail during execution.P6 understand 32hrs/d

ok Imran that means suppose if i want to give create a resource database say labour, but i dont want to breakdown further as 4 labours ....can i directly give units/day as 32 hrs/day... Is p6 understands that i am using 4 labours with each 8 hr/day working.

no need to give particularly 4 nos...

AM I RIGHT.

Dear Sunnil

If u are working in construction industry then u will define a craft say welder and then if u need 10 welder a day then u will 80 hrs/day which shows that u have 10 welders available to do planned job.

And if u are working in any running plant then u can define all individual resources as 8hr/d to check their efficeny bcas on running plants manpower fluctuation is not that much as in construction.
