Hi pals,

The manual is still under preparatory stage.

What we were asking from last so many days is some guidelines from Mr. Abhijit Kale, which he never turned up.

So, u may send PM to Abhijit kale for help rather than reading these posts?

Cheers,

Rav

Thanks Catalan for the reply,

I do believe, cost and schedule control will be a part of performance measurement baselines control which I proposed in chapter 7 & 8.

RFI’s, NCR’s and submittals can be a part of Integrated Change control system (Chapter 9)

Thanks for the suggestion

Cheers,

Raviraj

Hi Raviraj,

Item 1 to 8 are the detailed part of the Item 9-Integrated Change Control System which is other call it the Cost & Schedule Control.

I would suggest to have a separate chapter on how to develop, implement and track RFI’s, NCR’s, drawings & material submittals, etc., and another chapter for Project Closeout.

Thanks Oliver,

For d last four points suggested, i think that shud b a part of SCHEDULE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, that wud typically focus on what to check in the schedule while submitting; INTERFACES between planning & other departments and the standard reporting formats.

For the remaining points, yes, thats a good suggestion and I will try to incorporate.

Does ur company hav anything as such? If yes, plz mail me.

Cheers,

Ravi

R,

A manual infers you will are writing a specific how to?

Are you sure it is not a company guide you should be writing that outlines the requirements of the programme and control procedures.

i.e.

Topics covered are:

• Establishing a Work Breakdown Structure

• Production of the Programme

• Approval of the Contract Programme

• Sub Programmes

• Programme monitoring

• Updating the Programme

• Cause and Effect.

• Project Reporting

Details under these headings would include non-project specific guidance such as;

*WBS should be created in conjunction with PM/BidM.

*every activity should have a predecessor & successor.

*performance must be mesured in physical % complete.

*Reports must be presented in company format.

We have been in the process of trying to develop same thing for about 3 years now, and have made limited progress. I will give you some detailed feedback if you give me a little more time. It was very easy to develop the outline part, but when we do the detailed descriptions it became time consuming and slowed us way down.

The biggest issue is that nobody wants to use it anyway, except the bosses want it because I suggested it.

Raviraj,

I am interested to know if your manual is a supplementary to your company’s Quality Management Procedure or a standalone document? Also, is it for construction purposes only or does it covers the tender preparation and commissioning stages...

I suggest You may a glossary of terms as appendix to your manual...

Please give me a copy once you have already something to share...

Arman
