Samba, Ravi, etal

There is a wab site that may help. I emphasize the word MAY, because I do not know your specific situation. The web site is:

Search for their Project Managemant Body of knowledge.

There may be some fees

Thanks KD,

But the thing is, I started this thread 4 help on preparing this manual. I never said its ready.

Infact, there’s a guy called ABHIJIT KALE, who is supposed to forward some stuff on planning manual, which he never did. I asked for it first and then people assumed its this manual.

Seems to be bit impossible to predict any date as of now. I tried, but no response from management.

Cheers,

Ravi

Hi Raviraj

Sorry for pushing you. :-)

I’m just worry there are too much people asking for the manual that you can not remember.

Can we have a predicted date when the manual was launched.

Beside that, I’m willing to help you in P5/6 technical problem.

Regards

Dear Venkatesh,

Productivity rates u can calculate from the time cycle.

you have to break the activity in to sub activities and u have to work out the time cycle for the same.

From time cycle u can calculate the productivity rate.

Reg resurces reqd, basically u shld have an idea abt wt u r going to do in tht activity, plus u have to refer to technical specifications in the contract.

hope this will help u ltl bit...

Cheers,

Abhi

What wxactly did you want to know about planning?

Updating usually occurs at a regulaur time period or when there is significant information becomes available or a significant event has occurred, perhaps a milestone. I hope this helps

Hi KD,

I knew that u hav asked for the same. But the thing is, it is still half baked and will be served very soon.

Need to wait for some more time, as management is taking too much time and there are hell of revisions in that as on date. Its already going through 9th revision and i m really tired working on this manual apart from routine project work.

You know better, its easy to work on a new project rather than making changes to the existing project to no limit.

Cheers,

Ravi

Hi Raviraj,

I know that there is a great deal of work in preparing a manual such as you have described. You’ve got it to draft form and it’s under consideration, whatever happens you can bet that your senior management will want changes made. KPIs are a favourite thing to emphasise, and I noticed that you planned to include this in the manual.

I don’t know if this will be any use to you, but I found KPI Library to be quite helpful.

Hi,

I would like to propose the Project Management Process Hut by John Filicetti on PM Hut. It actually covers the project from its inception to its closure. It also includes all necessary templates to do the job.

Raviraj, I am really interested in publishing your book as a Hut on PM Hut. Please use the "Contact" form on PM Hut in case you’re interested and we’ll take from there.

Raviraj,

Please dont make the mistake many other planners do by assuming that long range planning and strategig planning are one and the same. In short long range planning is what goals a company wants to achieve. Strategic planning allows the company to decide the best way to get the goals set forth in long range planning.

For example long range planning may have as one of its goals to corner the market in dingbats. Strategic planning lets the company decide the best way to do that.

I hope that helps

Cheers

Robert,

For an organization, planning can be split up into three sections:

1. Strategic - Long term covering organization goals

2. Tectical - For next few years and upcoming projects

3. Operational Planning - For an individual project / program

The planning manual which i intended to prepare was for construction phase of an individual project basically covering preparation of Clause 14.1 / 8.3 program and about, how to monitor and control the project.

Still not got enough time and stuff to complete it, even though draft copy was submitted and at present, under review by management BUT STILL NOT COMPLETE.

Cheers,

Ravi
