by default, each project file uses its own resources; the alternative is to create the resources in a separate file called "Resource pool" or "Resource List" (in MSP 2007), and to use these resources in different projects by Tools, Share resources, Share resources, Using resources from (the resource pool)
it is not possible to mix shared and local resources in MS project, and no other project scheduling software will allow this either; as far as I know, only MS Project Server allows this by making a difference between Entreprise resources stored in the Entreprise Resource List and the local resources stored in the project file; but this is a completely different approach
in the Using resources view, the Project columns applies to tasks, not to resources.

In the Resource Sheet View you can show the "Project" field/column and this will show where the Resources come from.

You cannot!
When you share resources between projects, MSP copies all the resources from any project file to any other project file, and you cant say where a specific resource comes from; thats why the appropriate way of doing is to create ALL resources in ONE file only, the resource pool, and only tasks in ALL OTHER files, then to link project files to the resouce pool by sharing resources.
Distinction between local resources created in a project file and global resources created in the ressource pool does not exist
