Ed is absolutely right about PMBOK, it is extremely useful. Another good source is the Planning Engineers Organisation, lots of information on the site, and if you have any queries, the Chairman, Gary France, is a member of Planning Planet.
Another site I’ve found helpful is Ron Winter Consulting, and yes you’ve guessed it Ron Winter is also a member of Planning Planet.
Actually, it is just by chance in which the company Im working with is in need of a Project Planner. My Boss knew that I have a background & little knowlwedge on Primavavera who had asked me to handle the task. Hence, I purposely went for Primavera classes during my short leave.
Again, I hope i can deal with my new task earnestly & easily. Just the same if i need some help or information, I will write you & hope your always be of assistance to me.
By the way, do you have plans of working abroad? You know Project Planner is in demand in the Middle East with good comparative salary package.
Thank you again & Best regards.

Ive never been worked abroad and therefore have no idea how it works out there but, my friends are very successful and they stayed there a quiet sometime now.
Anyway, good luck and keep it up...All I could say for the moment is for you to be specific of what they need and focus on it. Dont think of something which they dont ask yet. By the time theyll ask for something you dont know, for sure you already have gained ground, recognition, respect and easy for you to buy time.
As you said your new assignment is related to planning works on high rise project. Be specific to meet everybodys expectations. Is your job just related to planning or is it really planning alone???
Are you working for the contractor or the owner? If you are working for the contractor, then a lot of detail planning is necessary (Pre-construction, long lead packages, work cycles etc.). If you are using P5, I believe you have a primavera administrator involved in running the system. He or she is proficient in using the software.
Actually, I am now based in Doha-Qatar. Just arrived here from the Philippines for 3 weeks vacation & spent my vacation attending formal classes on P5.0
I forgot to ask my instructor where I can buy the Book of Paul Harris on P5.0 for engineering & construction.
Just in case, you knew where to buy this book there in the philippines, please reply me as I am planning to buy one for me to further my knowledge on P5.0 application.

The only other resource I suggest you review is the PMI College of Scheduling (see www.pmicos.org).

Also useful is Wideman’s Glossary of Project Management Terms; and finally
for a bit down-to-earth common sense coupled with a bit of light relief try 100 Rules for Project Managers
