Seams there is no clear answer for this "dilemma", the link provided by Bernard showed this very well!
There was also an external link provided in one of the posts in that discussion "http://www.htcprojectcontrols.com/SB002.pdf" which provided some good examples about the difference between Retained & override logics in cyclical networks, in these examples one can conclude that the use of override logic will lead to illogical forecast completion dates as well as wrong conclusions about the status of the project (ahead or behind schedule).
For me I think that if someone got out of sequence activities then he should plan a revised schedule (in case that the logic of these out of sequences activities is very different to the original plan), otherwise he should keep the schedule as it is without changing the scheduling option, after all he still has the contractual completion date as it is (in case of no delay).

The example cited didnt make sense to me either (specific to page 5 of 6), it showed 3 activities FRP Wall Pour with 10 days duration each; noting that each activity is a group of activities but with Finish-to-Start Relationships. forgive me but it doesnt make sense at all!
In reality it doesnt work, because concrete pouring doesnt take that much time (10 days???). A logical Planner will break it down into i.e. Reinforcement; Forwmworks; and Wall Pour, from there I believe the author can derive a logical example!

Retained logic can be used only for the vertical projects like Building construction .
Progress override logic can be used only for the horizntal projects like construction of roads and infrastructure where the works can be run out of sequance without effecting the completion date of the project>
