Approval of P3 programs

I have met only opposite situations and requirements.

I just cannot imagine why your consultant may need the schedule model without resources. Any PM software permits to calculate project schedules without levelling resources.

So it does not make sense. Suggest your consultant just to ignore resources if he wants. If you did not use special resource calendars then nothing will change if to compare with the model without resources.

In any case copy your schedule before deleting resources. Resources are necessary for the project control.

Thanks Ashraf,

I have asked consultant several times, but its not clear why he has been asking so.

Once we are submitting our baseline program, by that time normally all the logic, links and scope are clear and thats why we use to submit program with resource loading complete.

Resource loading for a set of activties is normally standard and approval is taken once we submit the PSE (pre-start estimate) for the project to our management.

What would you forecast in this typical situation if conultant is keen on non-resource loaded program submission.

Plz advice

Ravi,

The best person to answer this question is your consultant and you should clearly ask him.

Comming back to your question, for scheduling perpose and higher levels of schedule we do not need to load the project with resources. In the begining of a project when the final picture is not yet clear as how the project will look like exactly the consultant is looking mainly for scheduling logic, once the logis is set then the schedule is detailed further and resource loading is done which gives a S-curve.

Ashraf
