You could also just add a space before and after the "&", i.e. "Ram & Company" instead of "Ram&Company" and so on. That works for me also for line 2 and 3 in the footer (MS 2000).
Therefore "This & That" would work, but not "This&That".
I tried one line at at time, and it works perfectly; but it does not work when you enter the four lines together, "Mather&Platt" becomes "Mather1latt", "Refer ..." => "Refer page 14", "Collins&Partners" => "Collins1artners"
Reason is that MSP (I am using MSP 2003 Pro) is adding "[Page]" after each "&" after the 1st one; browse in the lower frame and manually delete the offeding caracters.

This Sign not only add page nos but adds a host of other things like Project Name , Default Company Name Etc in different instances.
