Thanks Dave. i will take your advice and consult my IT department for help. You may not remember me, but i am one of the guys you trained on how to use P3.
Yes, I was talking about P5. We are in a group of forums called "Primavera Enterprise" which is one of the many, many names with which Primaveras Marketing department has graced the Oracle/SQL Server product set that will one day replace Primavera Project Planner version 3.1.
OF course you are confused by all these names. All of my clients are. EVERY conversation with them requires me to define which product we are talking about (since most of them have both)
So I have decided to call the products "P3" and "P5". Shortly P5 will be replaced with P6.
BUT the "send project" functionality I was describing exists in P3 as well. You should not get the error you are descrbing. I would recomend the technique of emailing the project to yourself in the P3 world as well as P5. It is almost certainly a setup problem - has your mail program been updated since P3 was installed? You are likely to need IT department/Primavera help here - unless you find Windows registry advice on Planning Planet!
“The best way to backup your project is to email it to yourself. Just go to "File : Send Project" and it will launch Outlook”
Is the above statement applicable to P5? This is because I tried this and it crashed my P3; I had to reboot my computer before I could access P3. Maybe am missing something. Thanks to respond.

if you send or export the project, you just back up your file, you can not track it in 2 alternative ways, right?
Is there a way to track the project in 2 separate files as you do it in MS Project just by using save as?
