I know that I look at all areas. "Keep those lightbulbs truned off" is my motto.
I would have thought having the ability to moderate all forums encourages a greater cross fertilisation of ideas. The ability to contribute in all forums can only be positive and healthy. Anything that keeps Planning Planet live and topical can only be good.
Are there areas that no moderator visits, and hence we ought to be directed to to ensure things are running smoothly?

I agree that we should continue as we are, having all moderators able to moderate all forums. Spreads the workload and would allow us to get a private message to a fellow moderator if he / she was being unreasonable.
Any further thoughts on the guidelines ?
How well does PP know it’s moderators ? I only know Bernard through this forum (and others) and Ron through this forum. James and I did some work together in HK so he knows what I’m like (James, be nice !)

You have to ask yourself, how well do you really know your Moderators? Isn’t it possible for a single Moderator to slant issues by being lenient to flamers who share his or her opinion and censuring the others? Isn’t it possible that a single Moderator might be absent for days or weeks due to illness, vacation, job assignment, or computer hardware problems? Isn’t it possible for a single Moderator to “leave” PP without notifying you? For these reasons, I feel that multiple Moderators for any section is warranted.
Unless we bring in a bunch of moderators such that each forum has 2-3 dedicated moderators, I suggest keeping the current arrangement.
Most commercial forum software have administrators and moderators. Administrators have full control of the board and can moderate in any forum. Moderators have limited control and can moderate only the forums designated.
So far, this arrangement does not appear necessary for the PP.
