Thanks for the reference to IPA. In its website, they state a detailed process plants database for more than 4,200 projects for comparison. May be, the database is ONLY Cost database. I will get in contact with them.
Peter, I got a very standard delivery of 35 months execution, starting with FEED to Mechanical completion (no RFSU).
My need of benchmarking schedule data is due to have more arguments for defending my schedule developed during proposal stage. During this phase, no much information is available.

trouble with this thread and its analysis (for most Polymer Plants) is that it doesnt recognise the total schedule dependence on the Long Lead Equipments Items and whether any pre contract arrangements have been made by the Client.
Typically for Basic to RFSU we will have 28 months for a world class delivery schedule against 36 months for standard delivery.
Bearing in mind that into these schedules typically equipment delivery times can be 24 to 32 months (increasingly heading for 36 months). The only difference is whether the Client (or its PMC)has pre-ordered the key equipment.
If you want to know more about benchmarking see the IPA website - but unfortunately real data means you have to pay to join the club!!

Our understanding is different.
Using your figures, I arrivea at the following:
Design (Detailed Engineering): 8 months = 25%
Procurement (All inclusive ETA at site): 9 months = 28%
Construction: 11 months = 34%
Testing and Commissioning: 4 months = 13%
so it is different, benchmarck is different.
Wait for few days, i may come up with some figures for Polymer Plants that will take 30 months to complete.

Thanks, but please give me more clues about your figures:
1.- Shall I use your figures for estimating durations ?? If it is so, I have a EPC Schedule for new Polymer plant which takes 30 months. Using your figures, I should estimate the following:
Detailed Engineering : 8 month
Procurement : 9 month (I assume that procurement means Issue RFQ untill POrder award)
Construction: 11 months
Testing, Commissioning : 4 months.
What I got on my schedule is fully different

To my utter astonishment, 41 planners took a look to my thread BUT no answer. Why ???
I think that the problem is the word benchmarking. Let’s clarify this term which seems to be new in market or it was new to me.
“Benchmarking is the process of determining who is the very best, who sets the standard, and what the standard is”
Based on that, I was developing an EPC schedule at proposal stage of a project. For this reason, I thought BENCHAMARKING is the ideal tool for determining rough duration for level 1 EPC.
I used durations based on historical data of my Company. BUT may be we are not best, for this reason I tried to get benchmarking schedule data. Main purpose was to compare my durations with someone who might be setting the standard of BEST Durations for:
Detailed Engineering
Construction
