What does your contract say? Time limits may bar a claim if notice is not given in time, but it would be very unusual that a claim is barred because other additional information has not been given within the notice time scale. As you correctly say, it may not be possible to give such other information in time.



Some contracts may have a time limit for the notice and another time limit for further information to be given but even if the further information is not given in time, it would normally be incumbent on the contract administrator to assess the claim on the information he has got.
