I have being playing around with the beta version of 2007.
I focus on the single project environment and have not looked at the server version but there are not many significant functionality enhancements;
1. Notes may be added to calendar exceptions. This function has also in the beta version made it time consuming to enter non-work time as one can no longer double click on a day to make it a non work day but have to select the start and finish date from a drop down boxes.
2. Multiple Undo now available.
3. There is now a cost resource, thus now estimates may be more easily be entered as cost resources.
4. There is a highlight facility that highlights all the fields that will change when another field has been changed.
5. There are lots of enhancements and reporting enhancements.
6. There is a new file format mpp (2007), it will not save to mpp(98) so those who wish to make a mpx better keep a version of 98 and 2003 as well as 2007.
7. There appears to be no change to the way MSP ignores the status date when scheduling and still relies on assigning a constraint to keep an unstarted task on the status date, it relies on the actual start + duration (including splits) to calculate the finish of an inprogress task and one can not unlink percentage complete and remaining duration.
