Dayshift/Nightshift Crews

Hi Lofti,

Basically Raja is right, but it is not quite as simple as that, you may have to run a twenty four hour calendar, a day and night shift calendar, a NDE calendar if you are using x-rays, a heat treatment calender, etc, to deal with the typical activities you have. You may have one area, working 24 hour shifts, where heat treatment and x-rays have to take place, so you may have to set up a clender that takes this into account, further, you have to use your resource calendars, in the same way, if you may decide to resource schedule, it sounds complicated, but at the end of the day, you may decide to change your working times eg NDE, production, Heat treatment, so you create new calendars, and re-assign activities, to different calendars, this is the complexity of planning outages, I have had as many as 21 calendars on a eight day shutdown (outage) and this helped to make the project come in on time. This is why we are planners, because we are supposed to think outside all the boxes.

Hi,

where are you now, In malaysia.

ok, First thing u must create your schedule in Hours,

then just insert the resource night shift and day shift trade in resource box. Define the working hours of the day/ night in calendar. Then apply your resource in activity budget.

But not advise to identifed day or night, just put the resources.

Cause in shutdown some activities could be change their method base on readiness of material, resources or process unless u can control it on time.
