I don’t know what Tamas is exactly trying to achieve, but I’m not a big fan of suspend/resume either.
If you want to control when resources work on a certain activity, you can also use assignment lag and/or manually overrule the start and finish dates of each assignment.
Having said that, in general it’s a lot of work and the resource planning does not get more accurate.
Hope this helps,
Niek.
Dont forget that Suspend/Resume is intended to chronicle the As-Built condition, not a planned suspense in the future. A planned suspense in the future does not make sense in CPM rules and has no definition of how it should work, or look for that matter. Good luck!
I have used suspend and resume successfully. If it is in the gantt chart that it is not appearing, thats because you need to format some new bars to display it. Refer to Primavera Knowledgebase bulletin #prim12322.
In P3e, I need to split an activity but I am still in planning mode.....I ried the Suspend / Resume option but no success...Any heklp wopuld be greatly appreciated....
You can add a milestone on top of the activity that you would like to discontinuos and set a FS relationship between the Finish Milestone and your activity,
Force the FM to a predicted date that you think the activity will be resume.
That way you can control the resume date with visual.
Hope that help
If you mean similar to split activity in MSP parlance, the only way I can think of is by assigning a new calendar to the activity and making the stoppage period non-working
