Hi to all,
P3 is for planning engineer and real thinker. P3 differentiate develop critical thinking that is a hallmark of a great planners. For planning Engineer that love to play chess, they find satisfaction derive from the intricacy of P3.
MSP is for planners since you dont have to think just punch the keyboard and then that its you will get a good looking schedule that everybody love to see but dont know what it is all about.
cheers
All,
I find it strange that anyone would try to compare P3 and MS Project. Microsoft is not a niche sotware supplier (unless you are a computer programmer) - global, easy to use without much instruction and for any person - surround a product with enough professional marketing and sell it to the masses. That is what Microsoft do, and do very well. MS Project is a general purpose planning software for everyone but not anyone in peticular.
P3 - software written and developed for the proffesional planner, not your self build house builder or similar. Unfortunately I have not had my hands on the more recent versions so I cannot comment on these. Other software suppliers are catching up with P3, some faster than others - and some have now come pretty close to being serious competition.
MS Project is good for what it is - a planning tool for the masses, software to suit everyone. It is not, and should never be confused or compared with, specialist software for the professional planner.
Hi Sandy,
for me...its depends on your PC and how you organize your Files. If the software u opened, is takes time more then 1 minutes, i can say your PC is overloaded...
cheers
if the parameters for comparisson is fast...
Then MSP is faster than P3.
Sandy, I think you should check your first assumption that the two systems calculate a logic network the same way:
What do you expect?
As with all software, there are differences in the feature set and capabilities of both systems. There are several threads here already discussing some of the major differences between MSP & P3, although Im not sure if they are specific to MSP 2003. Here is one of them:

i need to know about, how fast those software in processing data. wich one the fastest. and any of you have proofe it / test it with same data. so i can use any of your opinion on my papers.
thank you
P3is more sophisticated planning software compared to MSP. The amount of effort to arrive at an effective P3 schedule is considerable compared to MSP.
In organizing activities, P3 offers a lot of views/layout that you can generate without distorting the original relationship and logic.
You cant compare P3 with MSP 2003 but if you could be a little more specific, I could help you... :)
It is like comparing peas and apricots
dear sandy
why?....just explain, nothing loose.
