Displaying the progress as remaining duration in P3 and SureTrak shows progress from the Actual Start to the Data Date. This is not an inbuilt function of MSP.
MSP will show progress by default as % Complete only.
One can programme MSP to show the RD bar by using Finish1 on each task to represent the Data Date. Then setting Finish1 to the Status date by using a formula Tools, Customize, Fields form. Then reformatting the Progress bar to span from Actual Start to Finish1. There is no option to span a bar from Actual Start to Status date.
PS. Don’t forget to set the status date.

Mary,
To show the work progress on summary bar based on your requirement. Try this:
1) Remaining Duration. use Start and Complete Through
2) Percent Complete. use Start and Summary Progress
HTH.
I understand. So the progress I described will give the % complete and what you then need is remaining duration, which is basically progress up to the status (data) date. What I have done in the past is populate a finish date column, e.g. Finish 5 or one you are not using, with the status date and then set the progress bar end point to Finish 5.
Paul,
I guess my question was not clear.
I suggest u have a look at Format->Bars in P3.
Try to click on the 2 options available to display Progress on bar.
You will see the % complete that appear on the Bars change differently for those 2 options.
My question is if there is such a facility in MSP too.
Guess my question is clear this time ?!
Mary
Yes it does exist. Go to Format - Bar Style, then add a new bar. The start of the bar (from) is Actual Start and the end (to) is Complete Through. Then just format the position shape and colour of the bar to suit you.
