The Consultancy

Consultancies traditionally offer two solutions:

  1. Outsourcing a whole team to a client to deliver a project.
  2. Providing individual consultants to work on site as required.

One of the benefits of using a consultancy is that you are able to outsource the project to a professional team that understands your business and project requirements. Consultancies are also able to offer fast turnaround when it comes to assembling a team or providing a consultant. One of the pitfalls of using a consultancy is that they will often charge between two and four times more than a recruitment agency. Furthermore, as soon as it is delivered the team/consultant withdraws from the project, resulting in a situation where there is no in-house knowledge base. Consequently, should future changes be required, re-engagement of the consultancy may be unavoidable.

The Recruitment Agency

A recruitment agency will take a written specification from the recruiter and send back a selection of CVs. Often  an agent will not know what they are recruiting for and will therefore be word-matching  content from the CVs to find candidates. This means that the candidates are not briefed or vetted correctly, the outcome being that time is wasted interviewing inappropriate candidates.
