I spent from September 2008 to December 2009 as a Trainee Planning Engineer for Doosan Babcock. 

During my employment which ended due redundancy I took on several projects. 

While working in Cockenzie Powerstation (East Lothian) I ran and maintained a full unit shutdown as well as getting contracted to refurbish pipework in a distillery in Edinburgh.  As well as these I ran basic maintained work on the station.

Worked for Hill International on Etihad Towers project

Duties included schedule Management and Extension of Time Evaluation from the client side

Project management advisory capacity to 5 project managers on various offshore and onshore engineering projects. 



Introduced a working form of Prince 2 management methodology to the Projects department by gradual implementation of processes. 



Demonstrated a quantum improvement in project visibility and control on a programme of 10 projects with combined value of over $240 million (USD). Used and trained others in MS Project, Filemaker Database and Mindmanager tools. 

1984 – 1985:  Bovis International, Chiswick, London, UK: Planning Engineer

Responsibilities for international project planning while also spending 4 months on site in Colombo, Sri Lanka on a 5-star hotel project.

2009 Jan – 2010 Jan and 2008 Jan – May: Sasol Petroleum International, South Africa

Based in Johannesburg on a consultancy basis to assist in the establishment of high level planning and project controls using the Primavera P6 tool. Specifically, the contract was to realise systematic control of SPI up-stream gas exploration and development project activities in Mozambique and elsewhere, including:

- Develop and check detailed schedule for Design, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Phases.

- Interrogate inter-discipline schedule requirements and restraints to ensure logical work sequences across all disciplines of the project.

- Update and check of Time schedule indicating Target Planned vs.

Plan using Microsoft 2007 and P3 the Design, Manufacture, Installation and Commissioning of HVAC for 2 Aircraft Carriers.

Liaise with 5 Dockyards concerning the Installation of HVAC

Integrate 24 various plans of differing Modules being built in 5 Shipyards for completion in Rosyth Dockyard.

Produce fully costed and resourced level 4 plans.

Report progress via scorecards iaw approved procedures.

Detail Project Management Plan and Responsibility Matrix for internal use.
