The business was purchased by Holifields Precision Engineering Ltd in January 2000.

Remote Handling Operations Support Engineer, UKAEA, JET

The Remote Handling Group is a component of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority. The group plans and executes Shutdown Maintenance & Installation Operations within the JET Machine. The latest shutdown, in which I played a key role, saw 14 months of operations for the group. My role was in the support of operations within the Torus and as such had a team of nine mechanical technicians working under my supervision with others called on as required.

Employed by EC Harris as a Senior Planning/Project Controls Manager I was seconded to British Airport Authority as their Lead Planner on the Airfield Project and headed up a team of ten planners from various employers. Twelve subprojects were managed through the gateway process from conception through to handover. Project Controls were managed through bespoke software enabling the maintenance of budget and schedule across the T5 Programme of Projects. Roll up reporting was adopted together with Earned Value Management to monitor and control the large and complex Programme.

The Torus Installation Group is a component of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority. The group is responsible for all operations outside, and supporting those within JET, the world’s largest experimental Fusion Reactor facility. I joined the group as a Planning Engineer after the successful role I played in planning of the 2003 – 2005 In-Vessel Remote Handling Shutdown Operations.
