As a college student I managed to secure work most holidays with Major Contractors working close to my home adn took a year out working as a labourer for a small local builder.  Projects worked on include Site Engineer - setting out for Laing on a new hospital construction in Hastings, setting out Engineer and planning for ARC during reconstruction of sea defences in Hastings, owrking in the estimating and planning departments for William Ellis Ltd Etchingham, speculative and council house builder, tender reponses and claims collation for Fairclough in Maidstone, Planning and site supe

Producing tender programmes, developing and monitoring contract programmes, providing data for progress reports and information on variations to establish Extensions of Time.  Ensuring projects comply with both contractual and company requirements for planning.  Projects range from wastewater treatment works for water companies  to civils infrastructure projects for the Highways Agency and County Councils and to sea and river defence projects for the Environment Agency. Values ranged from £1m to £30m.

Employed for 2 projects as a site planner,

Imperial Wharf for St George, 20 million pounds, R C Frame, 9 storey apartment block with 140 units, complete with leisure complex and swimming pool.

Barratt Homes at Woking, 50 million pounds, R C Frame with 9 blocks, ranging from 6 to 21 stories, 403 units with underground car park and retail on ground level, including office space to one block.

Both projects requiring programmes from R C Frame to Practical Completion and used by client, procurement, construction team and sub-constructors.

Pre contract - Produce tender, cost plan, design programmes, fire and traffic management  and phased / feasibility construction plans. To attend and make the presentation at settlement and pre-settlement meetings to the board, highlighting complexity of build, labour, plant, risks and durations. To attend and present at client interviews.

HS2 Phase 1 - Construction Expert

The Construction Expert role is within a small Project Development Team tasked with:

· Identifying and Specifying key construction documentation.

. Assessing and recommending assigned responsibilities for document production. 

. Specifying and assessing the resource requirements for the development of the project documentation.
