Planning Engineer since 1996, first project Rennovation of the Class 91 GNER Train Set (23 locos) and an upgrade in South Africa of a dedicated Iron Ore line from the mine to the coast - 9E Electric Locos. Several years in London working on the upgrade of the Underground, signalling, train stations development, upgrade of depots to take new rolling stock. Stint at the Ford centre of excellence Dunton working on the development of a new diesel engine followed by several years on pipelines from large dia clean water to foul water, gas and electric.
An experienced & dynamic APM trained & certified Project Manager who has over 13 years of Project Management/Planning experience within commercial telecommunications, Rail Industry & the Military. A highly motivated manager who can also manage & motivate others. Throughout the various Projects I have been accountable for I have also obtained vast experience with developing and maintaining project plans through the entire project lifecycle from contract award through to Project handover/close out.
Senior Planning Engineer I am the senior planner on a £114 million upgrade to improve the River Ribble estuary and the coastal environment flood defence project on behalf of United Utilities. This involves building a 3.5 km long storm water storage tunnel in the Preston and Penwortham areas. This will bring significant environmental improvements to the Fylde coast bathing waters and designated shellfish beds located within the Ribble Estuary.
After completing a 3 ½ year advanced apprenticeship (with 1 year onsite as a mechanical fitter apprentice) I moved on a planning career path at AMEC. Starting in the design department using CAD skills I had learned during my HNC I was exposed to the initial phases of a project. 12 months later I moved into the planning department where I started building schedules working closely with the planners, estimators and QS’s.
In 2012 I was promoted by amec to a Planner.
Single Planner for a 15 Million pounds per year storage tank project at Phillips 66 Humber refinery seconded directly for the Client.
(New tank build, major tank repair and tank maintenance).
Heavily involved with both client and contractors planning, scheduling and reporting multi-phase, multi-discipline and fully resourced P6 programs. Creating outputs for project management, business production, engineering, commercial, and coordination teams.
Develop detailed plans and provide Project Management Support (Including Cost Control) to a team revitalising Engineering Support Organisation’s within Bae. Plan and provide Project Controls for the Deployment of Project Control software and Processes for the Eurofighter and Hawk Aircraft build teams, based on the Australian Governments Earned Value Management system (EVM). ~£5bn.
