Our latest post asks the questions ‘Which reference point really matters for what you are doing?’ and ‘How accurate do you need to be to be useful?’ It seems the whole reference system for determining heights and levels in the UK wobbles around by up to 5 inches (13cm) every day due to the effect of the tides in Cornwall and similar variations occur all over the world.
In cold winter climates - For building projects (non-road) - how do handle getting delayed into an un-scheduled winter? Anything beyond "un-workable days" and productivity days? - what if they do not want to work in the cold? (roads deal with it in the spec but not buildings)
Should I, can I, accept a delay claim presented in working days? I thought they have to be calendar days. - And its not like 10 days, more like 180 working days.
What are some sources, possibly online or free, for how many people are needed for basics like drywall - for production rates?
Is it better for a GC / DB to revise Orig Dur or just Rem Dur if you find out a procurement is going to take longer? (and of course note it narrative - haha) - I have seen only OD and RD required in specs for 35 years when Dur at Completion (or Act) is the most important. How many times to we have to see OD = 5 RD = 2 DaC = 223 with a giant bar next to it, but no DaC (or Actual Dur) column. I like DaC more than AD but both get you there.
If fraud, is that a crime. I am thinking NO, there would be too many plausable excuses, ie you thought you could expedite it or negotiate less, or thinking you could find a different vendor. I see quite a bit of this and wonder the best way to handle it - the contractor's means and methods - do you have a right to ask to see the vendor's quote paperwork?
Is a "bag of cash" a legal expediting fee? Or suitcase of 20's or100's adding to 10K or something. Sounds shady, but if both parties handle it correctly on their taxes it would not be illegal. I think the cash instead of the check just gives each parties options - but what the other party does is not your problem, plus it is sexier as "cash".
Can I ask the people in here to share their excel sheet that they are using ? If that's not so much confidential
a project is gifted 6 month extension, can they then claim supply chain impacts? At what point are supply chain impacts the fault of the contractor? when are the contractor issues & when do they become "no fault" issues and is that a real thing - ehsy is the name of that? Can anybody claim ripple effect of covid?
Hi Expats, Currently we are migrating projects from MSP to primavera, we are having around 20 projects and having more than 300 resources( labor non-labor and materials) in the enterprise, we are assigning the resources between all the projects, now the problem is how to check the resource availability without on the certain period of time without opening all the projects together? How to print the available units of each resources, current assigned projects? Kindly advise
