Right Logical Relationships

Dear All,

May be it seems stupid to ask this question but still i will prefer to ask.

In construction schedules, most of the activities go parallel. What logic do you people prefer while doing your schedule.

It is very difficult to make whole schedule or major part of schedule with Finish to start logic.

When we apply start to start + lag  or finish to finish +lag, then still there will be open ends either at the start or at the end of activities. There is possibility to add some links to close them but those links will not be logical.

Estimating Activity duration in building project

Dear members;

 I have a question regarding estimation of activity duration by using productivty rates;

 

as i understand the formula for Duration = work quantity/(production rate X resource usage)

Now; i have a activity say Plaster works with quantity 2000 sqm

Actual Units Update Issue

While updating a schedule, I normally change the actual units manually. This used to work without any hassles until now. At present, I am using a different project as the baseline. When I update the actual units of resources to a new value and press schedule, the actual units go back to the earlier value instead of showing the updated value. Does anyone know why this happens?

Re-baselining in MS Project 2010

Hi, all.

I have moved from Primavera P6 to MS Project 2010.

Now I am in the process of rebaselining my plan in MSP, but I am facing a challenge:

I want the Actual Cost up to this point to be the starting point of the new Progress Curve (Cost based), but this is not so easy for me.

I have set the Status Date to the correct date (in few days into the future), and run the "Reschedule uncompleted work to start after: <Status Date>".

Subcontractor program for MEP

Hi Gents,

I am working for an MEP contractor and the main contractor has asked for a standlaone MEP program with Civil clearence dates driving the further MEP activities.This practice is new to our company as we were providing consolidated programs (by inserting and linking MEP activities in the main civil program)to our main contractors.

P6 resource leveling pushes activity to individual day

I'm using P6 for scheduling a project.  

I have 3 activities that don't seem to level correctly.  See below for example.

  • All are Task dependent activities
  • Same resource assigned to all activities
  • Calendar is set to 8 hours/day work schedule

I have 3 tasks with no logic between them, but they all use the same resource.
