Fundamental understanding of P6 date fields

I asked the question in Linkedin of schedulers - do you really understand what the software is doing wrt to date fields when you press F9? No response, so i thought i'd asked it here as well.
Lets start with explaing es, ls, ps and ef lf and pf calculated date fields.

Monte Carlo Simulation Challenges. Picture-based simulation.

After some breaks, we continue to discuss Monte Carlo Simulation Challenges!



Originally, I hadn't planned to discuss this challenge as I thought it is obvious, but previous comments show that some planners use "pictures" as the base for Schedule Risk Simulation.



If a project timeline is based on 'top-level estimations, it is just a picture. The picture could be drawn by different tools: highlighters, PowerPoint or a Gantt Chart generator. From plannig perspetiev the value of these pictures is exactly the same.

Critical Path Challenge. Criticality of the last activity.

Based on the Critical Path Method, the last task in a project is always critical.



However, practically we know that the day when the project is going to be completed is never really critical. Instead, we care about Go live, Release, Practical Completion, ect. date.



This specific the CPM method may cause the incorrect calculations of Total Float.



Example:

Assume the deadline for 'Go live' milestone is 20 days after the current forecast. The schedule has one "Post Go Live' activity (without a deadline date) after the Milestone.

Company specific scheduling handbook as a Rough guideline makes Sense ?

I Work as a scheduler for an asset owner in the chemical industry and within our team we deal exclusively with the preparation, planning and scheduling of turnarounds for different factory sites.
Due to a lack of schedulers, often a scheduler is hired from an external contractor.
We, as an asset owner internal team, would like to setup a sort of company specific scheduling handbook, which should serve
As a rough guideline for all schedulers working on turnaround projects, so they are more or less forced to work in the same style.

Is this an idea that makes sense ?
