I'm new to planning and am still finding my way round the P6 software. If someone could help me I'd be really grateful.
I have a large number of activities and am trying to group a small set of activities by the actual day e.g. On 1st December, these activities will be in progress. On 2nd December these activities will be in progress.
I have tried grouping by start date as most activies are only 1 day duration, but am looking to be complete. Is this possible in P6 v7.0?
How was your first time as a planner your first project you ever scheduled.
I remember my first project was stressful didn't know what to expect. Project was worth R4 mil. Wasn't that big of a starter project but walking up to the plate I gave it my best finished 2 weeks earlier then scheduled witch granted me top beginner planner in the company on a junior level.

I am currently doing the planning for a Habour Reconfiguration Job and have not worked with NEC3 before this. NEC3 contract is still pretty exclusive in South Africa and hence I do not have much Case History.

I have been tasked with "selling" the requirement to plan work to a group of engineers that fail to see the need to do it. They respond with they have never had to in the past and just "do what they have to do" without the need for all the extra paperwork and reporting that goes with planning.
Therefore, what I'm looking to do is to produce a list of benefits to them in order to make the selling easier.

I need to remove all 'actuals' from the start and finish date columns. I wish to retain the previously designated actual dates so that they now become the schedule 'plan' dates.
Can this done using the global change function?
