Importing resources into a P6 resource library

Hi All,

I am new to using p6 and i have a long list of resources in excel. And i am wondering if it is possible to import them in to the resource library in P6. This would save me having to creat them in one by one.

Thanks

Denis

A few questions about starting a career in planning/scheduling

A
Alex Harper 👤 Member for 18 years 11 months

Hey all,

I've been lurking here for around 3 years and I recently finished school with a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Finance (I know it most likely won't be useful if I want to plan). I have a small amount of experience in construction/laboring, but nothing on a grand scale. (Mostly laying concrete in parking lots, putting up walls, etc.)

Where would be a good place to start if I wanted to look into planning? I currently live in Kansas City, MO.

Is There A Template/Procedure For Sub Contractors Monthly/weekly Planning Requirements

Hi

We have just started a massive energy project which will eventually take on board lots of subcontractors, who will obviously need to be managed accordingly.

I have been asked to write a procedure/template outside of the generic standard contract requiremants as regards our requirements from them from a planning point of view each week/month.

Does anyone know of a good place for me to start, is there any literature out there with which i can reference, or perhaps someone has done something similar in the past and would point me in the right direction....

Thanks

Contract versus programme

Hi planners, I am not sure about something contractually.

Lets say

Week 1 - Task A-  excavation delayed by information required from architect. 3 weeks EOT granted.

Week 2 – Task B – Construct new foundation, ahead 1 week due to faster excavation compare to tender baseline

Week 3 – Task C – construct walls, 2 weeks faster than the tender programme (tender baseline)

defects of weight by cost

J
ji wei 👤 Member for 16 years 1 month

When we use cost as the standard of split weight in progress control, we found that some work in construction stage spend several days, but it take big part in weight because of cost. When the material procured, we take some actural percentage in progress. But I think it is still difficult to correctly present the progress of construction works.

Anyone knows how to make it better for progress control when we use cost as the weight?

I hope you can share your experience in progress control with me.

Thanks!
