WBS Query

J
Julie Plant 👤 Member for 17 years 4 months

Hi,

I have a schedule which currently is down to level 21, I have amended my data limits within user preferences in the WBS view, however, when I look in the activity view my colours stop at Level 20.  Does anyone know how I can add a colour to the level 21 within the activity view.

It is taking my Project Name as a level 1 and could do with it being a Level 0 - Any ideas ??

Cheers

Julie

NEC Programme Acceptance

T
TONY SEWELL 👤 Member for 15 years 9 months

Can a PM accept a Programme with Caveats?

My view is No its either Accept or not accept siting 1 of the 4 reasons.

My PM has been adding caveats to his accpetances for a while now, but essentially this would allow him to have a get out clause if for example a third party delayed the works and he had added a caveat to say third party must comply with programme dates or to that effect.

If the answer is no, where does it refer to this in the Contract so I have some reference to back up my argument.

Any thoughts?

Out of Sequence Activities

Hi Planners..

What we should do after updating the program. P6 log will show of sequence activities ?

A) Change or apply the actual link ? Consultant will not allow to change anything !

B) Remain as is it. ? P6 will culculate unrealistic or not real information.

Anybody can expalain or justified which is the rite method to deal with issues.

Thanks in advance.

weight in progress calculation

J
ji wei 👤 Member for 16 years 1 month

hi:

In order to calculate the progress, we usually choose cost or manhour as the weight. But I find  a problem to use cost in weight. For example , some works such as cables work or insulation works didn't take a long time and also should not be critical works, but they have a lot weight percentage because they are expensive. so how to make the weight more realistic and match to the reality of work in progress.

I hope you can share your expriences.

Thanks!

P6 - P3E converstion - budgeted units being lost in import/export

Hi Ya

Was wondering if anyone could help me on this one.

I am currently exporting a plan from P6 using the PM XER version 5 option (have also tried using contractor version 5), when the plan is then imported into our clients system (they are using P3E) the budgeted units are lost or increased randomly across some activities throwing out all the programme calculations.  Some of the activities have remained the same so I am not sure what is happening with this.  It also happens when I export and re-import the file into my P6.

If anyone has any idea'
