Dear Experts,
I've been invited to a group wide discussion on planning best practise. One of the deliverables at this bash will be "Golden nuggets" in the planning world. Very early on in my career I learnt that, in general, engineers have difficulty in keeping to any schedule and are happiest when solving the minutest of issues rather than seeing the commercial picture and stopping when "fit for purpose" or the product meets the spec.

I developed the construction baseline Program/schedule/plan... and accordingly i prepared the % weightage plan.
progress reporting sheet, S curve etc. I show my progress in S curve.
Due to delay in my milestone dates i need to revise my Baseline and accordingly i will prepare the progress.
My question is:
In last week report to my client i showd the progress with some figures with overall progress as 54%

Could you please share your knowledge, experience and understanding regarding detail difference between Construction Planning and Maintenance Planning with e.g. in oil and gas ,infrastructure, utilities or any other construction.
I have a little confusion which i need to clear.
Would expect a lot replies.
Guys can you plz tell me the different levels of scheduler with little description what does that means.

As every body knows I am in a STP Project .
I have started working on the Program,Tommorow Iam Startting to Schedule the Microtunneling portion.
I am little bit confused in some areas relating the sequence.
So any body have STP experience please guide me from the Shaft onwarsd..
I am showing the activities by sequence ,If any correction is there please correct it..
1,Secant piling
2.Excavation & Ring beam installation
3.Temporary blinding for jacking
4.Base slab Concreting
5.Thrust wall
Hi,
can some one comment on how to display "Baseline % Complete" for activities as well as being summed up for the WBS levels as well.
the project is currently 50% into progress and "scheduled % complete" values are not the same as the ones that i had initially calculated for the scurve from baseline.
Schedule%complete gives rescheduled values not the baseline values as i understand????

Eg .I have a task of block work of Quantity 400 M2 .
Kindly clarify the production in the attached picture .
2.5 M2 per Hour means it is the production rate of one mason ???/Thn what is the propotion of helper .Kindly give me the global propotion of Labour with the masons (block,plaster,shuttering,Steel fixing what ever).And also Please compute me the Block mason with the helper for the above quantity....

Hi planners,
Would any one tell me about changes in the project plan? I am working with a (civil) contracting company and doing a high rise commercial tower in Dubai. We also have a sister concern for MEP works. I am the only planning engineer in the company. I made the civil plan for the tower and MEP as well at the same time. Now we have another residential tower and the MEP contractor is one another company. I have made my plan and the execution has already started but the MEP program is not yet submitted to us.
