I am re-entering the world of planning and scheduling (via Primavera) and have been tasked with developing a detailed Engineering schedule. My intent is to do the following:
a) Defining project objectives.
b) Developing a work break down structure - to the deliverable level.
c) At first, develop sequencing of tasks for each specific discpline (via Discipline Lead), then work with all the leads to develop the interconnect logics between deliverables of dferring discplines.
d) Estimate activity durations.
Question:
Hi Everybody,
I have just started working for a large construction company who have never cost loaded thier projects before.
I did read somewhere that 80% of planners dont cost load at activity level.
In my previous company I cost loaded all my projects at activity level (this is using P6) and it worked quite well.
Could you tell me if its the norm to cost load projects and if so at which level?
If you do cost load, is it best to cost load these at a base rate with no inflation?
Greetings,
Any good website containing method of statements for the main differetn activiteis in construction (Civil, Arch and MEP) ?
Hi there; my 1st ever post.
I have a customer managing large project with multiple workstreams (or sub-projects) each with it's own manager.
I'd normally recommend using Primavera P6 for this but the client wanted to use MS Project so that the managers can edit their own projects; minimizing the need for a specialist planner (I'm basically co-ordinating).
I've got the job running using multiple subprojects in a master file but the trouble is that I'm finding this to be very 'clunky' as the subprojects and the 'master' project are very large.
Dear Planners...a simple question. A site established Piping Fab shop has to do 300,000 ID in 12 months with peak of 40,000 ID per month. What amount of piping mateterial (in Inch Dia) should be available in peak month:
Will appreciate if some some standard or document can be referred.
