Multiple Calendars

L
Lo Gary 👤 Member for 16 years 4 months

What should I do if I want to set many calendars with different start time and finish time for each day and also different working days e.g.  Calendar A start from Monday to Saturday from 8:00a.m. to 18:00 , Calendar B start from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 17:00, Calendar C is a 24 hours calendar working from Monday to Sunday.

What should I set to the working hours per day , working hours per week and working days per month for each calendar A, B, C in the options .

I found the duration will come out with decimal places.Am I wrong?

Thank!

Adding new tasks to an existing baseline -is therre a way?

I'm not a big user of MS Project, so excuse my ignorance

We've got a design programme which has been baselined and is used for Earned value Management

We are expecting a lot of CEs (variations) to come our way throughout the life of the project

We want to include these CEs in our Earned value metrics

We don't want to loose historical earned value performance metrics by doing a total re-baseline each time we add a CE

Tracking Progress via Baselines - How to handle more than 10?

S
Simon S 👤 Member for 12 years 7 months

Hello Forum,

I'm new to ms project and trying to come up with a good way of tracking progress. The Baseline option of MS Project seems to help with this task. The only problem I have is the limitation of 10 baselines. A workaround seems to copy and paste the project file and set new baselines in the copied version.

MS Project 2007 vs 2010 -any major changes?

I've been roped into doing an improtu workshop on MSP with some non-planners in a few days time.

They are using MSP 2010, and I've only got 2007.

Are there any major changes I should know about to avoid giving them dodgy advice? I'll only be covering fairly basic things like different task types, assigning resources & costs, baselining, updating a project properly, earned value, etc

Cheers,

G

Microsoft Project Enterprise Edition

L

Can i assign more than one coding to an activity in MSP, to enable me to view a filtered view for more than one field that the activity may fall under.

For example if i were to code an MCC installation as "Electrical works", would i be able to create another code library and assign a code to that same activity to filter all works for "Smiths Electrical" to see a filtered view of all the works done by Smiths?

Thanks in advance,

Week numbers

Dear Forum

I wonder if someone can help me.  I like the week numbers to count down during the preconstruction period then count back up during the construction phase.  I like the week numbers to be shown as -3,-2,-1,1,2,3,4,5,6,etc.  However, when I adjust the project start date to the first date of the construction phase the pre-cosntruction phase 'takes ownership' of the intended start date and 'thinks' the pre-construction commences at that time.  With Asta you can set zero date and I was wonderin if there such a function with Microsoft Project.

Different Activity Start & Finish Date in MS Project from Imported file of P6

Dear colleagues,

I imported a project plan into MS Project 2007 from Primavera P6.  For the first 12 activities, the start and finish dates were the same.  But starting from the 13th activity onward, I've noticed that the start and finish dates in projet plan generated in MS Project were not the same anymore from the source in Primavera P6.  That is why the Project Finish Date and the Total Project Duration were also not the same.  Kindly help me out how could I make sure that when I import a porject plan from P6 into MS Project would give the same data/info.

Custom field to show only PM name

Hi there,

I am using MSP 2010 prof. I have a file with over 90 projects. In the Gantt view I want to create a custom field named PM that only shows the assigned PM and not all the other assigned resources. Not all projects have a PM assigned. Any ideas on how to do this? The formula is doing my head in.
