I wish to apply for the position of senior project planner as advertised on
planning planet.
I am currently working as the senior project planner/project controller with
John Paul Construction, an Irish based main contractor with an annual turnover
in the region of €350million euro.I am responsible for all John Pauls'
construction projects in both Ireland and the UK. Whilst I am based in our
Dublin Office, I spend approximately 40% of my time in the UK, where we have
projects in both Scotland and the UK.
I have over 8 years experience in both contract and tender planning across a
wide range of sectors including healthcare, residential/commercial,
pharmaceutical and educational. I have also worked on a large design-build
project (PPP - Public Private Partnership), where there was a large emphasis on
the co-ordination between design and construction stage through web based
collaboration. I have also worked in Dubai for a project management company on a
large scale theme park project (€650 million), which involved managing and
implementating the contract programme on behalf of the client.
My primary degree is a Bachelors Degree in Civil Enigineering from University
College Dublin. Ive also completed a research masters degree in Engineering
Science and a Diploma in Project Management. I am currently undertaking a part
time masters course in 'IT in Construction' which focusses on the use of BIM
(Building Information Modelling), collaboration and other new innovations in the
construction industry from a technology point of view. (This course is distance
learning based which does not affect my ability to work abroad)
While currently based in Ireland I would be interested in working abroad if the
right oppurtunity arose, in a senior project planner/project controls role. I
feel that the time is right for a new challenge to broaden in an international
role. I am very ambitious, hardworking and progressive, with a focus to progress
within any environment I find myself.
Whilst my planning experience is predominately in civils and building related projects,I would be very interested in apllying my planning experience and techniques to the power generation/nuclear industry. I am a fast learner and very flexible in relation to travel.
I am highly proficient in Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, Microsoft Project and
Synchro (4d Modelling).
