I currently work as a Senior Planner at J P Kenny, an Engineering and Project Management Consultancy in Aberdeen. I plan subsea projects for BP from FEED through Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing to Offshore Construction and Start Up. My previous experience was gained whilst working for manufacturers of Subsea Products such as Xmas Trees and Controls so I feel I have gained valuable knowledge by being able to plan activities from the start to finish of subsea projects. I create and maintain integrated schedules, using Primavera P6, which include details and links from many other schedules, these include in house engineering and various vendor schedules. The schedules are designed to meet the client's drilling schedule without compromising it in any way. I analyse the critical paths on a regular basis, highlight anticipated risks or issues to the project manager and advise possible mitigation strategies to avoid increasing the length of the project schedule or costs.
More recently my remit has expanded to involve managing third party costs and variations on the client's behalf, creating cost reports and project cost estimates.
Whilst I have only been working as a planner for four and a half years I feel I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge of planning, project management and the oil and gas industry in that time and I am very much looking forward to taking on new challenges. I hope to continue to increase my knowledge and experience further both within my role, industry and in various locations globally.
