TILOS...

TILOS 8 English version released

tilos_logo.jpg

Linear project GmbH has released version 8 of TILOS in English. New orders for TILOS will be delivered in Version 8 from now on. TILOS 7 clients with an annual maintenance and support contract will receive their upgrades over the next weeks from Linear project GmbH or their local TILOS distributor. The delivery email will contain a download link and a new product ID to activate TILOS 8 on a computer. There is a patch provided for TILOS 7 to allow the usage of TILOS 7 and TILOS 8 in tandem.

One of the most notable functions of TILOS 8 is the merging of data from different sub-projects into one time distance cell. This will enable the dividing of a project into different sections (zones or tenders), then merging these by dragging and dropping sub-projects from different TILOS works running simultaneously on your computer.

Other new features include a new view management allowing easier navigation and switching between the different views of your project. The mass haulage functionality is entirely new and will be described in the following section:

TILOS 8 Mass Haulage functionality

Road and rail projects usually require the movement of large quantities of earth in order to prepare the terrain. This is subsequently one of the biggest cost drivers in these types of projects besides bridges and tunnels. Earlier versions of TILOS enabled the monitoring of such quantities using distance diagrams.

TILOS 8 now does this does this interactively:

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1588:height=436,width=650]]

  • Shows mass areas based on soil classes in different colours reflecting the layers of soil vertically. Data can be simply imported from Excel or other apps using the clipboard or the xml interface.
  • The Bruckner curve analyses cut and fill areas to generate the mass balance curve.
  • Haulages are constructed interactively by drawing links between the rectangles showing quantity and distance of transport. At any given time, the user is informed of the masses in each area. The total mass transport as a product of volume and distance is also graphed.
  • The planning wizard creates a cut and fill task from each haul, linking them automatically. The time-based diagrams show sliced or total quantities over time as quantities in stock piles and crushing zones.
  • The flexible resource planning in TILOS allows for the optimized utilisation of a fleet of vehicles as well as calculating its entire usage and costs.
  • During execution, quantities achieved can be entered or imported to compare planned and actual quantities with one another in order to control the performance on-site.

If you would like to test the new TILOS 8 version, send an email to [email protected] requesting the latest version of the software.

XER TOOLKIT...

Is an Excel Addin devised and developed by project control professionals with the capability to read, analyse and display Primavera schedule data

xer-toolkit.png

The FREE Schedule Viewer

The schedule viewer is a smart alternative to PDFs of the project plan. Outputs have the look and feel of primavera’s native gantt and are complete with collapsible WBS grouping sections.  The viewer provides users with the ability to define, customise and save filter/ column schemes and unlike some other free viewers; the XER Toolkit provides access to the majority of Primavera columns including activity codes and user defined fields.  There are even some columns that are not available within Primavera itself (e.g. steps, driving predecessors/ successors with detail, resources etc.).

The schedule viewer is entirely free to download and use.  Read more... www.xertoolkit.co.uk

That's all folks.  As ever, do send us in your feedback.
