PMI Scheduling Community of Practice 9th Annual Conference, Brooklyn, NY Scheduling — The Bridge to Success 6–9 May 2012 Call for Papers and Presentations The PMI Scheduling Community of Practice (formerly called the PMI College of Scheduling) is proud to host our 9th Annual Conference at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn, New York, USA on 6–9 May 2012. On behalf of the Scheduling Community of Practice, we are seeking speakers for this wonderful event. Nine terrific tracks are being offered and we invite you to submit a proposal to present on any of the included topics. Some submissions may address more than one knowledge area, so please alert both track leaders if your presentation qualifies for multiple tracks. Below, please find outlined the track descriptions, track contacts, peer review opportunity note, a milestone timeline, and the basic rules / commitments for speakers and track management. Please forward this call to all potentially interested parties. TRACK DESCRIPTIONS Innovation (Research) Track for peer-reviewed papers of academic quality relating to innovation, research & development and/or otherwise offering significant advancements in the field of planning and scheduling. Accepted papers will be published on the Scheduling Community of Practice website for discussion and presented at the Conference as (1) part of an authors' panel discussion, and/or (2) a full presentation. Enterprise Track for Integrated Enterprise-Wide Project Management System Implementation including project portfolio and priority management, benchmarking and performance measures, role-based reporting, resource management, and using the web for enterprise wide access. Information Technology/Computers Track for scheduling in the areas of Information Technology, Computers (Hardware and Software) or Technology R&D. Scheduling Track for scheduling domestic projects, international projects and projects involving multi-national participants: methods, techniques and approaches to scheduling including logistical, communication, cultural, virtual project and management challenges. Building Information Modeling Track (BIM) applications in scheduling, project planning in virtual design and construction (VDC), storyboards and animations, 4D modeling, and all related topics. Scheduling Excellence Initiative (SEI) Track for topics and projects related to Scheduling Excellence, used to discuss best practices and guidelines for scheduling and schedule impact analysis in a Town Hall forum. Town Halls are open discussion, non-lecture based, and preview the Best Practice and Guidelines draft publications for discussion. To participate in SEI, contact track chair, Chris Carson [email protected] RULES FOR POTENTIAL PRESENTERS All potential presenters are required to submit an Abstract outlining the topic to be covered and Biography, Resume or C.V. of Author. Potential presenters who have been notified of an accepted Abstract shall meet all deadlines for submission of papers (if applicable), presentation materials, and for registration. All presenters are entitled to the discounted ‘early bird rate’ for conference registration. Failure to meet any milestone deadline may lead to being dropped as a presenter and another presenter will be selected to replace you. There will be no refund of registration fee paid. Authors and Speakers of Papers and Presentations expressly warrant that all material provided is free of Copyright infringement of works of others, and further indemnify PMI for any claims for such infringement. Authors and Speakers of Papers and Presentations expressly warrant that all facts concerning private individuals or entities have been fully verified, preferably by such individual or entity, and further indemnify PMI for any claims for defamation. Ownership and Copyright of the Content of all Papers and Presentations shall remain with the Authors thereof. However, Authors grant to PMI an exclusive license for the dissemination, distribution, recording, broadcast, re-broadcast, or publication of the paper submitted, or the production of the Presentation as made at this Event. (This shall be deemed similar to a school recording a school play; the Copyright to the play remains with the Author or her agent, the recording of children may be sold exclusively by the school.) Authors may provide copies of the specific Papers and Presentations provided at this Event to their academic institutions, management and employees of their firms, and to clients, provided such are attributed as Copyrighted by PMI and are not part of a compilation of materials by other Authors or Speakers at PMI Events. Authors of Papers shall format Papers in the manner according to the Guidelines provided by the track chair, such that a compilation of Papers having a similar format may be published by PMI. PMI does not by having this requirement promise to prepare such a compilation. (In the Guidelines: To the extent that a Paper may have features or content that may not fit within these specified Guidelines, such as over sized diagrams, photographs or graphics, animation, sound or video, or other formats not conducive of publication in the format specified, these shall be provided as attachments. In no case shall the Paper include attachments which are accessed sole via a website other than one under the control of PMI.) Authors of Presentations shall utilize as an Opening Slide, or Introduction to the Presentation, the Conference Template Opening Slide. Authors of Presentations shall utilize as a Concluding Slide, or Conclusion to the Presentation, the Conference Template Concluding Slide. Authors of Presentations shall utilize, as possible and appropriate, on each Slide, or throughout the Presentation, the Conference Template PMI Attribution Slide. Slide (and as applicable other Presentation format) layout, fonts, and other artistic and presentation formats shall be determined by the Author. However, all Presentations shall be subject to review by Track Leaders who may require modification for readability or view-ability. Be sure to obtain the “PMI Scheduling Community of Practice Paper/Presentation Guidelines” document from the track chair for more details. Track leaders may require verification that a Potential Presenter has experience in speaking in front of a large audience, and has sufficient command of English to present to our anticipated audience. Potential Presenters anticipating any issue shall so note with submission of an Abstract, and resolve such with the assigned Track Leader as soon as practicable. MILESTONE TIMELINE
Please note: Submittal of a paper (if required) of academic quality is required no later than 29 January 2012 (or 60 days after acceptance of an Abstract, whichever is later). Failure to meet the paper deadline may result in cancellation of the presentation without any refund of registration fee paid.
