Estimating Manager

HS2 is an unparalleled feat of modern engineering and the largest infrastructure project in Europe. For an experienced Estimating Manager like you, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to invigorate the nation’s connectivity, capacity and economy – on a scale not seen in the UK since the Second World War.

First line assurance

You’ll manage people and resources to help develop a series of cost estimates for high value and complex projects. That will include first line accuracy assurance and establishing appropriate levels of contingency. We’ll also need you to develop benchmarks and cost models.

Managing risk

Your role will involve presenting cost reviews of estimates with confidence and authority. You’ll be skilled at assessing the cost impact of differing risk levels and comfortable with handling uncertainty.

Quantity surveying

You should be proficient at undertaking work measurements using your quantity surveying skills and adept at undertaking first principle estimates. The ability to develop cost budgets and schedules for control purposes is important and you’ll understand the implications and cost impacts between different procurement and commercial strategies. The ability to manage and mentor diverse teams is also a must.
