PLANNING ENGINEER

SALARY £35,000 TO £43,000 (Dependant on Skills & Experience)
SSE is one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK and Ireland with around 9 million customers and over 20,000 staff. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planning Engineer based in Glasgow or Perth.

Working as an integral member of the Thermal Development, Major Project Services (MPS) Team, you will support the project delivery of various Thermal Generation Power Plants from inception to handover. Project technologies currently include Energy to Waste (Multifuels), Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) and Carbon Capture Generation Capital Projects throughout the UK and Ireland. Previous experience of working within the Power Sector and with these technologies would be a distinct advantage.
Your key responsibility will be to ensure schedules and plans are prepared in accordance with MPS Processes and Procedures. You will prepare, analyse and report schedule data in a clear, concise, timely and consistent manner. You will be responsible for monitoring Contractors schedule performance as well as making recommendations for any schedule slippage recovery.
To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience working as a Planner in a similar Client organisation or sector; you will be experienced with using Primavera P6 including resource allocation and expenditure tracking. Other desired experience includes NEC3 and FIDIC contract management, programme and portfolio management and value improvement through stringent application of recognised planning methodology's (SPI, CPI and EVA).
You should have experience in the construction industry and have previously worked in the schedule or planning department at a client, contracting or consulting engineering organisation. You should be educated to a 3rd level education or HND equivalent, Project Management qualification or have equivalent experience. At the second stage interview, the successful candidates will be required to pass a basic P6 competency exercise.
