An experienced Planner is needed to join a leading global main contractor to work out of their Abingdon or Stevenage offices. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a renowned main contractor who work on a national and international scale.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Some of your duties will include (not limited to):
- To operate a planning system in accordance with the planning procedures, providing a consistently high level of service.
- To effectively and professionally undertake the planning function on multiple live projects ensuring the production teams are delivering the project time objectives.
- Working as part of production team, but with dual role as independent assessor of progress, giving confidence in project status to senior management
- To maintain regular contact with Line Management and, where appropriate, other departments, on matters affecting their own areas of responsibility.
- Understand for each project the level of planning service and anticipated time allocation to provide that service
- Contributing to the capturing of project risks and proposing mitigating actions
- Summarise projects status upstream to senior management, highlighting any unresolved major risks and potential overruns
- Communicating with other disciplines within production teams to ensure they are aware of their roles in meeting the programme.
Planner Skills & Experience required Essential:
- You will have experience of construction projects across a broad range of sectors (bias towards commercial, mixed use developments , schools, high end residential preferable)
- You will have the ability to manage multiple project programmes running in parallel
- You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of development; design, procurement, construction (structure, architecture, services), commissioning
- You will have excellent communication skills; ability to quickly and clearly articulate key issues and to listen and capture concerns of others
- You will have skills to use specialist planning software (ideally all of Powerproject, P6, MS Project)
- You will have knowledge of the key features of common forms of contract entered into in UK
Desirable:
- You will have knowledge of other sectors
- You will have experience/ expertise in 4D/ BIM
