Planning Engineer -  Oil & Gas Aberdeen



We are looking for a Planning Engineer to support major projects based our clients Aberdeen office.  This position involves supporting their efforts in bidding and delivering major industrial projects primarily of an oil and gas / upstream nature.  You will be working on high value, strategically important projects which are high profile within the client organisations.  By the very nature of the size of the projects you will be expected to manage planning and scheduling activities on site for the client and form part of a team approach to project delivery. This is a strategic position within the business, and we consider that this role offers substantial advancement opportunities for the right candidate.



Responsibilities



Develop resource plans and execution plans to support bids and proposals

Develop in-house planning and scheduling processes, procedures and capability

Develop the existing project control systems for major Industrial Clients to incorporate best practice and procedures

Provide a quality risk analysis service on single or multiple projects

Interface with key contractors, Client teams including HSEQ, Commercial, Operational and third parties to develop level 4 plans for use in risk and estimating process.

Provide/implement high quality planning and scheduling standards and expertise to Project Managers on projects

Ensure the implementation of the client’s project controls procedures on projects in the areas of planning, resourcing, progress measurement, earned value analysis, completion forecasting and status reporting.

Ensure integration of project control procedures into the project delivery process

Provide expert advice including daily, weekly or monthly status updates

Produce monthly planning reports, resource updates and projections

Produce ad hoc reports informing the Project Manager of significant schedule impacts and their effect on progress and completion

Provide guidance, care and mentoring of any subordinate staff













Requirements



Expert in all aspects of planning and scheduling in Primavera products

Broad understanding of the upstream Sector

Broad understanding of Risk Analysis

Ability to advise clients on all aspects of the project status and forward plan

Ability to prepare and update fully resource loaded plans for project phases

Ability to prepare reports, including earned value analysis, trend analysis, float analysis and early warnings

Ability to prepare and manage regular planning and progress meetings including assigning actions and resolving issues

Ability to both accept and delegate responsibility

Proven skills in supervision of subordinates including adequate planning, monitoring and control

Client interface level of responsibility on a project basis in conjunction with senior grades

Ability to work with the minimum of supervision and on own initiative

Ability to communicate to both immediate superiors and subordinates

Analytical and Management skills

Flexibility on being office or site based
