URGENT – Permanent - Senior Planner or Programme Manager to work on water projects in the Midlands – P6 - Salary up to £55,000 + package.
This position is to work for a leading, highly reputable main contractor that focuses on major civils and utilities projects. One of their key focus areas is the water industry and they are part of a number of well-known frameworks around the UK. Projects range in value from £1million to £500 million.
Due to having an exceptionally high workload and a fantastic pipeline of work for the next 7 years, my client is looking to recruit and experienced planner/programmer. This role will focus on existing projects for the AMP 5 as well as tendering for part of the AMP 6 framework that is due to kick off in 2014 and will offer 5 years work on top. This position will offer a 50/50 split between tender and site planning, other duties will include client liaison and presentation, management and development of junior team members, liaising with other contractors and sub-contractors who are part of the various joint ventures, leading tender meetings with potential clients and management of programmes for circa 150 sites in the Midlands at any one period of time. This position will have a very high focus on programming. The software currently in use is Primavera P6. For this role candidates will be expected to have experience using the global functionality of P6 to create and manage programmes and report on them.

Candidate specification:
- Will be happy to travel within the Midlands (very occasional stays away from home)
- Will have a relevant degree or qualification in engineering or design
- Will be strong users of Primavera P6 and have experience managing multiple projects at any one period of time, SAP also used
- A strong programming/scheduling background is essential and candidates who have worked in a programme management role would be considered
- Will have experience in preparing tenders as well as undertaking site planning activities
- Planning design/design management/engineering experience would be beneficial but not essential
- Hands on construction experience
- Understanding and experience of the water industry and how the sewage process works
- Client liaison and management experience is key. I am looking for someone who is well presented and spoken with strong written and personal skills
- A UK main contractor background is essential to this role, candidates who do not hold this will not be considered. Equally due to travel required for this position all applicants should hold a full UK driving licence and be eligible to live and work in the UK
- Must be happy to work both as part of a team and on own initiative, a self-starter
