I am working with a reputable UK main contractor to assist them in recruiting Senior Planning engineer or Planner who is looking to move into a senior role. This position will be based out of offices in Dorset covering a large project area in the South of England. Projects range in value from £1million to £50million and include schools, student accommodation, hospitals, hotels, commercial buildings, high rise, leisure centres and retail outfits. The position has arisen due to a high increase in workload and the desire to grow the current team. The position will report to both the local Preconstruction Manager and Area Director.
The position:
- Site Planning
- Tender Planning (procure, construct and commission)
- Roughly 50/50 split between tender and site
- Preparation of method statements and scaffold schedules
- Attendance to all tender meetings within your patch
- Add key risks to risk register
- Production of logistic and phasing plans
- Take tenders and collaborate with site Project Manager
- Make sure that sites are running to plan, time and budget
- Mentoring of new staff as they are recruited
- Liaise with others within the preconstruction team and site teams
- This position will also entail assisting with key business decisions for example recruitment and expansion
The candidate:
- A minimum of 5 years planning experience within a UK main contracting environment on construction projects (ideally 10 years). This is essential!
- A relevant degree of qualification
- Both tender and site planning experience
- Will be a strong user of Asta Powerproject software. Microsoft Project experience is beneficial nut not essential
- Will hold a full UK driving licence
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- The ability to work well either as part of a team or on own initiative
- Will be a resident in the UK. This contractor is not willing to offer sponsorship for visas as this is an urgent requirement.
